As your midwife, I am dedicated to you.
I am currently offering midwifery care as a primary caregiver student midwife under the supervision of the California Board Licensed Midwife (CPM). I am a student midwife working on my bachelor in midwifery degree through the MEAC accredited college of National College of Midwifery. National College of Midwifery is also recognized by the State of California Medical Board.
The day your baby is born is one of the most exciting, meaningful, and joyful days of your life. Midwifery care is unique in recognizing birth as a natural, normal, and healthy event. Midwifery includes comprehensive prenatal care, home birth, and postpartum care. Included is extensive information on nutrition, exercise, prenatal testing, and newborn care.
Pregnancy and childbirth are normal, healthy, physiological processes. Your home is the ideal environment for birth to unfold naturally. As an educated, professional, skilled practitioner, I respect the natural rhythm of the birth process and believe strongly in our ability to give birth. I am trained to take appropriate action when necessary and refer accordingly when medical attention may be required beyond what can be provided in the home. As your care provider, I support you and your family with an open dialogue about risks, benefits, and alternatives around your choices during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the postpartum period.
Your prenatal care focuses on the health of you and your growing baby and prepares you for a natural, spontaneous birth. Prenatal visits take place in your home and often last about an hour, allowing ample time for all family members to feel cared for and for your questions to be answered. During each visit, the health and well-being of both the expectant person and the baby are monitored. Prenatal visits occur monthly until 28 weeks, twice monthly until 36 weeks, and weekly until the birth.
During a home birth, I monitor the natural process as it unfolds and offers guidance as necessary. Your birth care will be unique and respectful of your wishes, with the need for privacy balanced with the changing needs of physical and emotional support. After birth, I will remain for several hours to assess the mother and her baby, make a meal, start laundry, and clean up as well. A thorough newborn exam is performed with your baby next to you.
Care during the postpartum period is essential to a complete recovery as well as long-term health. Postpartum home visits occur on day one, day three, and day five, two weeks, and around six weeks postpartum. The care of the new mother will address the physical and emotional aspects of the postpartum and newborn period. I am happy to offer women well - person care in the comfort of your home.
